Zaman Dah Berubah Cikgu!

Assalamualaikum ...

Ive been in Kelantan for almost one month ...
Sambil2 tak ada kerja, I did my charity project ...
I teach at one of the sekolah harian, 2-3pm, weekdays, form 4 students, Modern Maths ...

I amazed when 'my students' used the Scientific Calculator in class ...
Compared to my scool days before, we just used the normal calculator ...
Simple, Priceless and hahahaha tak nampak canggih langsung!

I amazed!

The first topic was STANDARD FORM ... in BM dah lupadah ...
(I learn in BM anyway ... spm 2002)
Ajar punya ajar ...
I found out one thing ...

My students, are a little bit slow when I ask them to 'congak' some of the simple calculation ... like ... 76 - 18? 27 - 13? 8 X 7? ... and they do have intention to still use the calculator! huhuhuhu so pity!

My second topic was QUADRATIC EQUATION ...
If you are a science student, in SPM, this topic is sooooo easy (in Modern Maths)...
Since this chapter is in Modern Maths, and all of them do learn the Add Maths ...
I think that they will conquer this topic well ...
As usual, I found out that ...

My students, they still 100% rely on calculator ...
They really really and really doesn't sure on how to solve the questions manually ...
Thats not a big problem anyway ...

But the most annoying thing is, they do rely on calculator and I found out they become lambat pickup to calculate simple thing without calculator ...

When I speak 'out loud' to them about this matter ...
Their answer goes ... ZAMAN DAH BERUBAH CIKGU!!!

Now, this Scientific Calculator become a virus to them ...
Same goes to our 'lovely' Handphone ...
How many of us remember/memorize at least 25 phone numbers in their mind?
So do I ... no ... FAILED!

Huhuhu ... what happen to our education system?
Easir and simpler today ... the outcome? ... COMPLICATED GENERATION!

Assalamualaikum ...

I always wondering.. How Malays in a few years coming...
They said they studied hardly, but they rely on calculator... they said they studied very hard, while they hate to open their dictionary..
